Hi my name is Frances McLean

I am a lecturer in Information Technology at Challenger TAFE.

Over the past few years I have been developing software for mobile devices. This has now progressed and enabled Challenger TAFE to include programming Windows based Pocket PC's with students in our IT Diploma classes.

Last year I facilitated a professional development session with Julie Manning and her staff and introduced them to the basics of using mobile devices. I find that they are a very enthusiastic group and keen to embrace mobile technology. I really enjoy working with them and look forward to being involved in future projects with them.

I have also been involved in several projects to develop assessment tools for lecturers to use on their PDA's.

I find developing software for mobile devices very challenging especially with the continual release of new devices and operating systems that seems to be accelerating. The wide variety of devices and their individual specifications and requirements to run and display programs certainly can lead to some hair pulling sessions.

I really enjoy being involved in the path that Challenger TAFE have taken in implementing mobile technology and know the ways they can be used to enrich our life are only limited by our imagination, and lack of sleep.

Now I have even created my own blogs and wiki's
